Katrina Kope: Being a Seattle Vocalist in 2012!

I’ve decided to take things down a notch and just focus on a few things. It’s hard having musical ADD if you know what I mean.

SOUL KATA

We are in the studio as we speak mixing our last EP. We’ve had a long run of good times and bad. Learning how to work as a team and remaining friends through it all. We won’t be performing together anymore but you can still listen and download our music at www.soulkata.com. PURR GATO

I’ve been working on a project called Purr Gato. This project has been through a few names already and the album isn’t even finished yet! We are in the middle of mixing but there will be a finished product soon. You can check out the unmixed unedited version at http://katrinakope.bandcamp.com/album/the-kat-meow-project. I am very excited about this project! I’ve been practicing with my keytar and my 2880 4 track looper!

JAZZ

I’ve been performing for private as well as public events as the Katrina Kope Quartet as well as working with Jose “Juicy” Gonzales to bring you the best standards as duets. What happened in 2011?

SOUL KATA

Soul Kata digitally released a new EP called “Rockets.” It is partially mixed and unmastered.  You can check out  here! We will have a physical CD for this in 2012.

KATRINA KOPE/JOSH RAWLINGS – TODAY OR TOMORROW

Josh Rawlings and I released a duo album called “Today or Tomorrow.”  All jazz, some standards, and some original jazz as well. It is available for purchase at our shows and now at bandcamp.com!

So many great things happened this year!

I released a music video called “Crazy” under my Kat Meow project. This is my fun electronic project that I will be working on putting together an album sometime this year.

Soul Kata was on Art Zone! A local TV show hosted by Nancy Guppy aired on Seattle channel 21 and KCTS channel 9. You can watch the episode on http://www.seattlechannel.org/videos/video.asp?ID=3351005

Not only is Soul Kata focused on playing more out of town shows to promote our latest album “Here I Am,” we are going back in the studio to record some new tunes, finish a documentary, and release a music video. Keep an eye out for Soul Kata this year!

I was nominated for best lyricist and Soul Kata was nominated for Most Dynamic Concert for the I/O Jazz Awards of 2010!!! I didn’t win but it was such an honor to even be nominated. Thanks to everyone who voted and supports my music!

The Josh Rawlings and Katrina Kope duo album called “Today or Tomorrow” was finished! CD release will be in 2011!
